Looking for a fun summer job? Wave Country is looking for you.

Looking for a fun summer job? Wave Country is looking for you. We currently have lifeguard positions available for this summer. Not certified as a lifeguard? No problem. We are offering a lifeguard course at the Centennial Sportsplex starting March 22nd. The course will be free to those applying for a position at Wave Country. You will be required to purchase all course material at the American Red Cross on Charlotte Ave. Course material cost is $52.00.

The first class will be March 22nd.  Classes take place on Monday and Wednesday nights from 5:00 - 8:00 pm.  You must attend each of the following dates and can only miss a class in the case of an emergency.

  • March 22nd, 24th, 29th, and 31st
  • April 5th, 7th, 12, and 14th
  • Registration Deadline: March 21st

To enroll in a Lifeguard Training course, you must be at least 15 years old. There will also be a pre-course session, in which you will be required to pass a skills test. The skills you will perform are as follows:

Swim 300 yards continuously using each of the following strokes in the following order: 100 yards of front crawl.100 yards of breastroke. 100 yards of either front crawl or breastroke. NOTE: There is no time requirement for this skill. Prospective participants must show only that they can swim 300 yards using the above strokes without stopping.

Swim 20 yards using front crawl or breastroke, surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds. NOTE: When returning to the starting point, the candidate must hold the 10-pound object with both hands and must keep his or her face above the water. Recommend to participants that they can do this by swimming on their back using a whip (breastroke kick on their back) or a rotary (eggbeater) kick.

Working as a lifeguard is a great job that can be very rewarding. Wave Country offers competitive wages and flexible scheduling. If you are interested in seeking employment with Wave Country please contact Matt Oberbreckling at 615-862-8480 x238 to register for our lifeguard class.
